What do Mattels' Juicebox and uClinux have in common ?
News Quite a bit actually. Every Juicebox is shipped with uClinux inside it. The Juicebox can be used to watch videos, listen to MP3s and view photos. uClinux (in particular uClinux-dist-20040408 with the 2.4.24 uClinux kernel) is used to power the MP3 player and photo viewer. It runs a Samsung S3C44B0X in 2MiB of RAM and 8MiB of ROM. If you ever wanted to get your embedded linux from Toys-R-Us, well now you can!

This nifty little linux device was created by the folks at Emsoft (friendly Google cache). You can pickup one of these for around $59.95USD, which makes it fairly cheap given the features. Lots of accessories as well. No hacker community yet, but someone is sure to pull one apart soon :-)

Although there are no downloads available from Emsoft at this point, they are quite upfront about their use of Linux and from private discussions they understand the GPL and have no issue with it's source distribution requirements.

Does uClinux support x86 architecture? If yes, how ? | uClinux Training in Europe  >

Here is some good discussion [linux-hacker.net] about what is in these units.
