Searching for controllers with good uClinux support ?
Question uCRookie writes "Hello all. I hope you can help me in my search. I am looking for a microcontroller, that has a good uClinux board support package and a good support in the community. Are there alternatives similar to ARM9 architecture (single core)? What could be a killer requiremet is, that this microcontroller should have 2 CAN driver modules. We now use a SH2A microcontroller. It has 2 CAN drivers, but we are struggling with the support at the moment. Do you know any alternative controller with similar price category, peripheral modules and pinout but better support, especially for the uClinux kernel? The forest of controllers is big. I am very grateful for your help."

Recently I have played with a Coldfire-based board. Support for uClinux seemed ok, although I have not gone into any depth. There are several Coldfire-variants with 2 CAN controllers built in.

Hope this helps. Best regards Roe46
